Alcaraz completes the Grand Slam set with epic comeback against Djokovic in Australia

Carlos Alcaraz made history in world tennis by winning the 2026 Australian Open after a remarkable comeback against Novak Djokovic.

The Spaniard prevailed 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5 in the final in Melbourne, becoming the youngest player ever to win all four Grand Slam tournaments at just 22 years old.

Australia had been the missing piece in Alcaraz’s (Alcaraz) career. He had already claimed two US Open titles, two Roland Garros crowns and two Wimbledon trophies, but had never lifted the trophy in Melbourne.

With this victory, he now owns seven Grand Slam titles and completes one of the sport’s rarest achievements.

The final carried deep symbolic weight. Djokovic, the most successful player in Australian Open history with ten titles, was chasing yet another record: a 25th Grand Slam title, something no player has ever achieved. He started strongly, dictating play in the opening set, but the balance shifted as Alcaraz found his rhythm.

As the match progressed, Alcaraz’s forehand took control and Djokovic began to show signs of fatigue. The Serbian fought on, but unlike previous rounds, there was no dramatic comeback this time.

Beyond the result, the match signaled a changing of the guard, Alcaraz’s triumph confirms him as the defining figure of the next era
