OpenAI confirmed that ChatGPT will add a voice mode, a tool users have been requesting for months, now available on the Plus plan.
Since its launch in November 2022, ChatGPT has become a global phenomenon thanks to its ability to generate text and images through artificial intelligence.
OpenAI’s platform changed the way millions of people interact with technology, and now it’s adding one of the community’s most requested features: voice mode.
Sam Altman, OpenAI’s CEO, hinted in a social media post that ChatGPT Plus subscribers —the $20-per-month plan— will gain access to the new feature starting this week. While Altman’s comment was more of a casual response than an official announcement, it confirmed that the company is ready to deliver one of the most anticipated updates in recent months.

The new tool will allow users to speak directly to ChatGPT, enabling more natural and fluid interactions with the model. According to the company, the rollout had been delayed because the team needed “one more month” to improve the AI’s ability to detect and reject sensitive content, ensuring safer conversations.
For months, ChatGPT Plus users had been asking almost daily about the arrival of the feature. Altman’s message suggests the launch is imminent, although minor adjustments may still be needed before its full deployment.
With this addition, OpenAI aims to strengthen its leadership in the virtual assistant market. Voice mode not only adds usability but also expands ChatGPT’s potential as an educational, creative, and professional tool.
