Saudi Arabia has revealed the first details of its upcoming luxury rail project: the train “Dream of the Desert.” Designed to redefine luxury transport in the Middle East, the service will begin operations in the third quarter of 2026, offering passengers an immersive journey across the vast Saudi desert. 

The project is a collaboration between Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) and Italian luxury brand Arsenale S.p.A., known for its expertise in high-end trains and hospitality.

Together, they aim to create not just a travel experience but a cultural celebration of Saudi Arabia’s landscapes and heritage. 

Architect Aline Asmar d’Amman, through her studio Culture in Architecture, led the design. The interiors use a palette of golds, beiges, and darker tones, enhanced with chrome details inspired by the desert environment. 

Reception lounges are modeled after the traditional majlis, the central gathering space in Saudi homes where guests are welcomed.

These areas, featuring geometric patterns and handcrafted wooden details, create a social yet serene atmosphere for passengers. 

Cabins combine elegance and comfort, merging art deco style with regional aesthetics. Emerald-green sofas, upholstered headboards, and rich curtains complement the clean lines and wood-paneled walls, striking a balance between modern sophistication and cultural authenticity.
