Kevin Spacey denies being homeless and addresses his present in Hollywood

Kevin Spacey returned to the public spotlight after several headlines claimed the actor was “homeless.” The Oscar winner moved quickly to deny those reports, offering a clarification while reflecting on his current professional and personal situation in an industry shaped by shifting trends in Hollywood.

The 66-year-old actor released a video on Instagram to respond to articles that followed an interview with The Telegraph. In that conversation, Spacey described his itinerant lifestyle, comments that some outlets interpreted as evidence that he was living on the streets.

“I don’t usually make correcting the media part of my routine,” Spacey said. “If I did, I wouldn’t have time for much else.” Still, he explained that the recent coverage compelled him to respond. “In light of recent articles claiming I’m homeless, I feel the need to clarify,” he added.

Spacey explained that over the past year he has lived mainly in hotels and Airbnbs due to work commitments, but stressed that he is not homeless.

“It would be dishonest to let people believe I’m homeless in the colloquial sense of the word,” he stated.

He emphasized that his original remarks were meant to describe a transitional phase. “I said I was basically living in hotels and Airbnbs and going where the work is. Exactly how I lived when I first started in this business,” he explained.

Throughout 2024 and 2025, Kevin Spacey has slowly resumed professional activity, taking part in theater and film projects across Europe.

According to the actor, that schedule explains his nomadic routine. “I’ve been working almost nonstop this year, and for that I have a lot to be grateful for,” he said.

Spacey acknowledged that his financial situation is “not great,” noting that the past seven years took a heavy toll. After facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct — and being acquitted in the cases that went to trial — he lost work and incurred what he described as “astronomical” legal costs.

In the interview that sparked the controversy, Spacey said, “I literally don’t have a home,” referring to the fact that his belongings are currently in storage while he continues to travel for work. In his video, he clarified that the statement was logistical rather than a sign of severe hardship.

The actor also drew a clear distinction between his situation and that of people experiencing real homelessness. “There are many people living on the streets, in their cars, or in terrible financial situations. My heart goes out to them, but I am clearly not one of those people,” he said.

By addressing the issue directly, Spacey aimed to put an end to what he views as a distorted media narrative. He also expressed gratitude for the concern shown by fans and followers, as he continues navigating his path forward in a Hollywood still grappling with its evolving trends and standards.
